Drug Store Makeup Haul – Fall 2017

I realize that the average girl doesn’t usually have all of the high end makeup products nor knows so much about them. Unlike myself, the average girl is good with one palette from a random drug store brand, a foundation and a mascara. Honestly, I envy you, your life is not full of clutter. On the other side, I can’t deny my love for makeup and yes, it is an obsession/addiction, but at least I get to share it with you guys and if something doesn’t work out for me, then you guys can know before purchasing it!

Drug store makeup can be great for anyone on a budget, but sometimes, if you purchase the wrong product, it can really be a waste of money. What I’m trying to say is — it can get real ugly, real quick!

I purchased the most talked about products on YouTube and wanted to give them a try. The more I watch some videos with reviews, the more frustrated I get. I feel like the beauty guru’s formed a clan and they won’t talk badly about the products that other beauty guru’s are coming out with. They don’t seem to care about the average consumer and about the thousands of people who trust and look up to them to purchase something because they said it was good. They do not seem to care that they waste people’s money because they are too scared of what other YouTubers might think of them. Not saying this is true about all of them, but I’ve noticed this about a few.

Anyways, sorry for the rant. What I am trying to get to is that I want this space to be fully truthful, to always give you guys the best reviews to my knowledge and no biased opinions. Of course, what I like may not be something that works for you or may not be what you like — keep that in mind.

Okay, moving on to the products:

This mascara is compared to the “Better Than Sex” mascara by Too Faced. I don’t think they are identical in formula but the packaging is surely quite similar. For a drugstore mascara, this is actually quite good. I am still loving my $5 mascara from Target though, nothing beats the price and how amazing it is!

This palette was made by a fellow YouTuber in collab with Maybelline. It’s definitely one of the prettiest palettes at the drug stores. The downside is so much fall out. Also, if you don’t use setting spray, this won’t last you very long. The quality is okay and honestly I just don’t know if it’s worth the price. You might as well save up for a high end palette like one of the Naked palettes from Urban Decay and have that last you for years instead of this little thing when you probably won’t get too much use out of it. Don’t get me wrong though, I do think you can build beautiful looks with this, and it really can come out beautiful! Also, surprisingly, this is priced less on Ulta than Amazon.

I’ve been loving this Nude lipstick from Maybelline. I saw Christine Dominique using it in a tutorial and I had to go try it myself. It is a perfect nude and goes great with smokey eyes. This is the type of lipstick that gets stuck on your teeth, so be careful! I went into the Apple store with this one trying to get one of the technicians to help me with my phone while having this all over my teeth….beauty really is pain. I usually add a base before I add this one to my lips as this is a pretty dry formula. This is only $7 on Amazon, which is great compared to high end products which tend to be around $18-20.

This is the darker shade pictured. I love this color for fall and the formula is also really great. I noticed that this is $8 on Amazon, but $10 on Ulta.com. I guess if you want to save the $2 you can get it on Amazon for less. I am guessing that is due to L’Oréal not having to pay Amazon the same fees as Ulta.

For this one, I noticed my lips felt uncomfortably tingly and almost like they were burning. I don’t think this is a plumping formula? I did not research if it was, but it didn’t say it on the package. I will be returning this. I love the bright red, I think it is very wearable but the formula is not for me. I wonder if all of the “gloss” formulas are like this. Again, this is less expensive on Amazon.

This is a perfect eyeliner for when you want to create an open/awake eye look by applying it on your bottom lash line. Since it is waterproof, this thing will stay on for a long time. No complaints with this. Since, it’s not particularly an everyday look, I wanted to buy it at a reasonable price. NYX’s products are also so amazing and very comparable to the high-end products. When in doubt, just buy NYX. You can find them on Amazon or at Ulta or any drugstore. They have a better selection at Ulta though.
