Two Books I’ve Read In March | Review

Two Books I've Read In March

If you haven’t guessed by now, I am really into self-help books. It seems those are the only books I can read until the end. I have so many finance books…that are all half read…

This month’s books were both self-help and both had concepts of spirituality embedded in them. One of them, not as much as the other, and little more on the comical side of things.

I’m sure you guys have heard of Jen Sincero and read her book; You Are a Badass. This month, I read her sequel called I am a Badass at Making Money. If you haven’t read her original one, I highly recommend it. I always go back to it and re-listen to it, whenever I feel like I need a boost of motivation in my life. I also bought this month’s book on audible, which for me is great to re-listen to whenever I am cooking or at work or working on my blog. That’s what I love about audible, you can re-listen to any book whenever you want to ensure the points of the book really get carved in your brain.

The other book I read has officially become one of my favorite books of all time. It’s called Light is the New Black by Rebecca Campbell. It’s fighting for first place with The Alchemist. Both talk about the Universe having your back, well as all of the books I’ve read do, but in different ways.

Two Books I've read in march

I read both books at the same time this month as one was an audio book and the other was a hard copy. Which was in a way amazing to be able to embed the whole law of attraction/Universe principles in my brain.

Light is the New Black by Rebecca Campbell

This book is written so beautifully. It’s written different than most books in that it’s almost written like a poem. There are some pages that are motivational sayings or just quotes. I absolutely loved it. I think Rebecca did it on purpose to have it have meaning to you at a point in time that you needed to hear those words. I was a little weary about this book when I first started reading because Rebecca believes in reincarnation and it’s not something I believe in as of now, so I decided to just ignore that or in other words, respect other people’s views. Once I got passed that, I was able to enjoy the book. She doesn’t talk about it too much to make the book un-relatable for someone like me who doesn’t have the same belief. I’ve left so many little sticky notes in this book to be able to go back to and re-read. I’ve also learned so many practices related to mindfulness and meditations.

This book is, in the same breath, a book on self-help, self-confidence and spirituality. The books message is to follow your heart and to do what lights you up. In doing what lights you up, you give a chance to light up the world and allow others to have courage to light themselves up, too. This book is about believing in yourself, to taking out your ego and fear in what you do, and to follow your purpose in this lifetime. It’s about trusting that the Universe has your back, but also to put in the work. It’s also about trusting your gifts and that you have a voice that needs to be heard and have gifts that others are waiting to receive. It’s a beautiful book and has easily become one of my top 5 favorite books.

You Are a Badass at Making Money by Jen Sincero

I love Jen Sincero’s humor with her self-help books. She takes the subject and makes it light for readers. If you haven’t read You Are a Badass, I would highly recommend that first. This book is also, in some way, has spiritual side to it. She talks about Law of attraction, God and believing in a higher power or the Universe, which has your best intentions in this world. She talks about how to change your mindset around money and how many of us don’t think that we deserve it and how we can change that thought. She also puts into perspective why money is important and how it can be easily achievable (with hard work), if you put her concepts into action. She, herself was poor, had bad connotations with money until she was about 40, which is nice to hear because it means we can all still pick ourselves up and live a more meaningful live with the help of money. This is also on my audible app, and I’m excited to listen to it whenever I feel that I need to hear the concepts again. She really makes you think about the concepts by asking you questions and sharing what you can do to really understand why you need money in your life and how it would benefit you. Sometimes all it takes to understand ourselves is to put it in writing.

I love that both books I read this month had spirituality concepts in them and if that’s your thing, too, then definitely give both of these books a try!
